Julie Harris is a grants management coordinator who joined the Foundation in 2008. She contributes toward building a Culture of Health by working with colleagues to equitably facilitate various types of funding, data reporting, projects, and meeting planning. Julie began her career at RWJF as a program administrative assistant primarily supporting public health leaders. The meaningful relationships and work continually increase her learning in health equity and systems while centering on grantees and community.
Previously, Julie worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb in international and domestic areas as a secretary and later as a senior coordinator. Early career experiences include her work as an executive assistant and office manager for a research-based software development company following completion of a secretarial program at Katherine Gibbs School. Prior to that, Julie held various positions at an organization providing accessibility products and equipment while serving the community as an emergency medical technician with her local first aid squad. She worked various jobs from the time she was very young.
Julie is a Licensed Social Worker, member of the National Association of Social Workers, and a Court Appointed Special Advocate in New Jersey. Julie earned a bachelor of science in psychology from Liberty University, and more recently, a masters in social work from Rutgers University. Her internships for the programs concentrated on non-profit funding, prevention and intervention of bullying and abuse, advocacy with foster youth, and clinical therapy. Julie enjoys listening to music of all kinds, reading, swimming, and spending time with family and friends. She is steeped in faith, chocolate, and all things outdoors.
