New Jersey Health Initiatives (NJHI) supports innovations and collaboration to build healthier communities across New Jersey.


The state-wide grantmaking program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, NJHI supports projects that develop new approaches to resolving the state's health care needs.  

NJHI’s mission mirrors that of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation—to improve the health and health care of all Americans. Against that backdrop, the program works to help address the many health challenges of New Jersey’s diverse populations and communities, and afford everyone in the state the opportunity to live the healthiest life possible

New Jersey Health Initiatives

Blacksburg Primary School in Blacksburg, South Carolina 2016. 5th Graders have planted a sustainable garden that can survive the summer without water (when the kids are not around). This program was started by Willie Sarratt (pictured). Willie runs a local cattle farm. Signs of Progress.

NJ School Superintendents Engage Community Partners to Support Youth through Mental Health First Aid

NJHI funded three school districts to develop a network of personnel qualified to deal with issues related to young people's behavioral health.
