About This Opportunity
Reporting to the senior director, People Strategies, the Human Resources (HR) operations manager will provide day-to-day oversight of various employee life cycle HR programs, functions, and tasks and provide leadership and development of HR team members. The operations manager will embody a strategic and tactical commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion; demonstrate a high level of integrity; and a strong depth of HR functional knowledge. They will provide practical, accurate, and timely planning, solutions, and counsel to HR leadership, HR team members, Foundation team members, and external contacts.

Essential Job Responsibilities
- Direct Oversight of HR Operations:
- Employee Relations
Conduct investigations and resolution of employee relations challenges; anticipate problems whenever possible; develop, recommend, and initiate appropriate steps for resolution. Propose, implement, maintain, and update formal employee relations and performance improvement processes.. - Compliance and Reporting
Ensure and maintain compliance with state and federal laws and regulations by drafting and updating policies and procedures to comply with applicable laws. Counsel and assist staff on relevant laws to ensure practices are compliant. - Benefits and Leaves of Absence
Oversee the evaluation, planning, and administration of various employee benefits programs; assess effectiveness of programs and recommend or coordinate the development and implementation of changes and improvements to benefits programs, maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Performance Management and Review
Lead and oversee the annual performance review process, including online system administration, evaluation of program effectiveness, and training management and staff.
- Employee Relations
- Collaborative Oversight of HR Operations:
- Recruitment and Selection
Partner in the planning and coordination of recruitment and employment activities. - Job Evaluations and Compensation
Collaborate in monitoring the effectiveness of existing compensation practices against trends and Foundation objectives. Participate in job evaluations. - Policy Development
Collaborate on the development or update of organizational policies. Recommend policies and guidelines. Ensure that RWJF policies are compliant with federal, state, and local legislation. - HRIS Data Analysis
Work with HR team members to develop the metrics and KPIs used to recommend and implement best practices and measure unit success.
HR Communications Content and Coordination - Work collaboratively with HR communications to design and develop communication strategies with clear objectives and approaches.
- Recruitment and Selection
- People Management: Oversee, manage, coach, and develop HR team members providing regular, timely feedback.
- Perform other duties assigned as needed.
Minimum Requirements

- People Management: Proven ability to design, build, and resource a team; coach, develop, and guide team members; conduct talent assessments; manage conflict, and resolve problems to ensure optimal outcomes for objectives and priorities.
- Internal Communications: Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to synthesize material and focus quickly on the essence of an issue; to identify major opportunities in a specific area; see the big picture.
- Technology: Computer literate and working experience with HR technology systems, preferably Workday. Proficient with data systems and databases.
- Industry Education and Experience: Advanced degree in Human Resources or Business Management, with seven years of general HR experience and three years in a people management position. A combination of equivalent education and work experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
- Industry Expertise: Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compliance, employee relations, benefits, leave administration, and end-user HRIS experience—preferably in Workday.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
The HR Operations manager will perform job duties in a typical business office environment. Specific physical abilities required by this job include operating basic office equipment. Will be required to attend meetings, potentially both in person and off-site via phone or videoconference. Some domestic travel may be required. Salary
