Philanthropic organizations come together in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s rulings in Students for Fair Admissions v. University of North Carolina and Students for Fair Admissions v. President and Fellows of Harvard College, stating that America becoming a true multiracial democracy requires racial equity and diversity in higher education.
America’s broken child care system deserves a permanent fix
Federal child care funding from the 2021 American Rescue Plan Act is set to expire on September 30. RWJF Executive Vice President Julie Morita highlights the importance of reinstating these critical funds so that every child, regardless of their background, family income level or neighborhood, has the opportunity for the healthiest possible start in life.

Over the past three years plus, all nurses have suffered the realities of staffing shortages, poor working conditions, and continued trauma as a result of the pandemic. It’s now up to lawmakers, healthcare executives, and nursing leadership to ensure that any solutions put forward are not only driven by nurses’ experiences but also explicitly address the discriminatory policies that have perpetuated unsafe working conditions and systemic racism in the profession.

RWJF Joins Philanthropic Coalition to Revitalize Local News Nationwide
A coalition of 22 donors announced Press Forward, a national initiative to strengthen communities and democracy by supporting local news and information with an infusion of more than $500 million over the next five years. Press Forward will enhance local journalism to re-center local news as a force for community cohesion; support new models and solutions that are ready to scale; and close longstanding inequities in journalism coverage and practice.
