Tracy Costigan

Tracy Costigan joined the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in 2014. Tracy partners with program leadership in the Foundation’s efforts to promote fair and just opportunities for health and wellbeing in the United States by working to dismantle structural racism and address the social determinants of health. Working alongside the executive vice president and the associate executive vice president, Tracy manages cross-Foundation projects, aligns programmatic activities, and helps guide change-management efforts.

Prior to her most recent role, Tracy was responsible for leading organizational learning and coordinating institutional knowledge in support of effective and responsive strategies and programs. Through that work, Tracy aimed to advance the learning orientation that is central to the Foundation’s culture, one in which leadership and staff fully value and recognize learning as a priority, share a common language, and are able to create an atmosphere of trust, curiosity, and exploration.

Tracy previously served as a senior Research-Evaluation-Learning officer for the Foundation's efforts to ensure that all children and their families have an equal opportunity to attain optimal physical, social, and emotional development and wellbeing. In addition, Tracy has supported research related to building community resilience, particularly in the context of achieving equity and addressing the impact of environmental change on health and wellbeing.

Previously, Tracy served as a principal research scientist with the American Institutes for Research in Washington and as a clinical research associate at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the Medical College of Pennsylvania/Hahnemann University and a BA in Biology-Psychology from Tufts University, and is certified as an Emergent Learning Master Practitioner.

Outside of work, Tracy enjoys skiing, biking, gardening, cooking, and being outdoors with her family.
