Claire Morduch

Claire Morduch, an accomplished impact investing analyst, joined the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in 2023. With her keen understanding of the intersection between finance and social change, Claire brings her extensive experience in impact investing to her work in supporting the Foundation’s efforts in ensuring that its investments generate both meaningful social outcomes and financial returns. As part of the Foundation’s Impact Investment team, she values the opportunity to help use impact investing tools to build a Culture of Health by leveraging the Foundation’s assets in a way that can unlock the funds in the public markets and other private capital to support communities that have been historically denied access and resources.

Previously, Claire was a nonprofit consultant based in Connecticut, working nationally with funders, lenders, and nonprofits on impact investment underwriting, portfolio monitoring, nonprofit organizational assessment, and planning. She also provided organizational, strategic, and program planning, and financial analysis to enable Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) to foster economic opportunity and revitalize neighborhoods.

Earlier, she was a member of the Board of Directors of the Cooperative Fund of the Northeast, a CDFI bridge between socially responsible investors and cooperatives, community-oriented non-profits, and worker-owned businesses. She also served as director of finance for Connecticut Voices for Children, which provides research, recommendations, and advocacy to advance public policy and investments that improve the wellbeing of Connecticut’s children and families. For sixteen years prior, she was an associate partner with BWB Solutions in Branford, Connecticut, a national consulting firm with expertise in planning, governance, organizational assessment, and social investing.

Claire lives outside of New Haven, Connecticut. Starting in college she has been involved with cooperative businesses, including student housing and dining co-ops; a cooperatively run restaurant in Tacoma Park, Maryland; and a cooperative worker owned print shop in Philadelphia.

Claire earned a Master of Public and Private Management degree from the Yale School of Management, and a BA in biology from Oberlin College.

In her leisure time, she enjoys kayaking, hiking, travel, baking, and reading.
