Oktawia P. Wojcik

Oktawia Wójcik joined the Foundation in 2014. A distinguished epidemiologist, Oktawia's work at RWJF focuses on driving demand for healthy places and practices and building a Culture of Health through research that informs both grantmaking and broader health-related policy and practice. As she puts it: “I love research and I appreciate the Foundation’s approach to it and the kind of objective assessment that is applied. Results from such rigorous studies can make an enormous difference in the health and healthcare of people in America nationwide.”
Previously, Oktawia was a research fellow and project manager of Flu Near You, a participatory surveillance system at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. She also was a European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training (EPIET) fellow in Copenhagen, Denmark, a position sponsored by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control. She held other research positions at the New York University School of Medicine, the University of California - Santa Barbara, and Drew University.
Oktawia earned her PhD at New York University and her BA at Drew University. She has written and presented on a host of epidemiologic concerns.
A native of Poland, Oktawia now resides in Woodbridge, N.J. She enjoys travel and movies and has fond memories of being a volunteer at New York’s prestigious Tribeca Film Festival.
